The story of Studio M Lighting is closely interwoven with Maxim Lighting. Maxim Lighting was first founded in 1965 by Jacob Sperling, who was in the United States on a student visa to study aeronautical engineering. During this time, he worked as a sales associate at a lighting retailer and felt drawn into the lighting industry. Soon, he was creating his own lighting fixtures and amassing followers. As sales grew, he brought his brother Zvi into the business. Today, Maxim Lighting has grown into its own well-established and respected brand, but that is not where the story ends.
In 2013, Jacob Sperling created a new brand of lights within the Maxim Group Company. This brand draws on the initial experience of Maxim Lighting and utilizes high quality materials, masterful finishes, and unique artistry to create stunning contemporary lighting fixtures.
Studio M Lighting has collaborated with many well-known designers to create iconic lighting fixtures. Some of these renowned designers include Nina Magon, Cesar Giraldo, and Mat Sanders. Aside from these collaborations, Studio M has its own internal lighting team devoted to crafting lights in the company’s signature aesthetic.
