Hubbardton Forge Lighting is quite proud of its beginnings with two college friends using their creativity, passion, and vision to create this company full of designers and makers. Hubbard Forge defines themselves as “reliable American makers” and “modern american blacksmiths” as they focus on creating art with their forging skills. Over 230 workers make up their force and work together as designers, engineers, and makers to provide stylish, quality light fixtures.
While these elements of their story can stand alone, it’s also worth noting that Hubbardton Forge is one of the country’s oldest and longest operating commercial forges. Each item is handcrafted by artisans at their headquarters in Castleton, Vermont. That sort of artistry and attention to detail is an integral part of the Hubbardton Forge Story as they create artful and practical light fixtures.
Hubbardton Forge has its own set of designers who come from many different backgrounds. Some of their designers have experience in architecture and sculpture, but some even have experience in jewelry design. The design team is headed by David Kitts, who states that the team is always experimenting with what can be done with steel and other metals. Aside from the creative drive behind the entire design team, their expertise and experience in different fields is a huge advantage to Hubbardton forge, since it allows the designers to draw from a wide wealth of knowledge/experience and collaborate with people who have had different experiences.
Hubbardton Forge designs and produces lights in many different types. For example, they create not only indoor, but also outdoor lights. Some favorite outdoor lights include outdoor wall sconces, wall lanterns, pendant lights, and post lights. As for indoor lights, they have a wide array of favorite types like chandeliers and pendant lights, table lamps, wall sconces and vanity lights, and semi-flush mounts.

Hubbardton Forge is very well known for their craftsmanship and their status as a US based and manufactured company. However, in the artistic world of lights and general art, they’ve received numerous accolades. In 2019, they received the most prestigious awards in the industry: Two ARTS awards. One was for Green Manufacturer of the across all home decor categories, and the other was specifically for being the Lighting Category Winner. Later that year, they even won the Interior Design 2019 Best of Year Award with the ABACUS design.
The headquarters for Hubbardton Forge is based in South Castleton, Vermont. All of their lights are manufactured and forged in the United States as well.
