Petite Friture was founded in 2009 by Amélie du Passage, a figure who had a passion for highlighting the next generation of artists and designers. Before founding the company, she was a speech writer and then a secretary for the FIAC Art Fair. Her passion for creativity remained as she gained experience with businesses and went on to establish Petite Friture, a company that allowed her to give a voice and representation to young designers. However, this company also allowed her to express her own creativity and break free from industry norms through her own unique designs and creative expression.
The name of the company, Petite Friture, roughly translates to “mini fry-up,” a term that refers back to the crackling of tiny bubbles. Within that imagery is the presentation of something humble, honest, and wholly inviting. These words and emotions represent Passage’s dedication and vision for her company.
Petite Friture has many accomplished designers within its ranks. Sam Baron, Constance Guisset, Tom Chung, Pia Chevalier, and Andras Rigler are just a few designers that work for the company. This team of expert designers has many more artists in their ranks, which allows Petite Friture to produce especially creative lighting fixtures from a younger generation of designers.
