Originally, Kovacs imported modern and avant-garde lighting, which revolutionized the lighting industry through its designs and practicality. His success continued to grow over the following decades, but his brand became especially well known in the early 2000’s as he incorporated his love of modern interior design into his lighting fixtures. Although George Kovacs himself passed away in 2007, his company has continued on with staying ahead of the next trends and utilizing the latest design technology in their fixtures.

The company’s namesake is the main draw of the company in terms of the style of the lights and the technological advancements that came about because of Kovacs. In the early 1970’s, he was the figure who first introduced the American-made halogen torchiere, which was a lamp on a tall pole with a small head that held a slender quartz bulb. The introduction of the halogen bulb to the United States was a great turning point for the entire industry as other manufacturers began to market their own versions.
George Kovacs Lighting is currently based in Glendale, New York, where they continue Kovacs’ legacy of creating modern lighting that is both technologically advanced and designed for the present day.
