The Modern Fan Company’s story begins with Ron Rezek. Rezek always had a passion for interior design and lighting, which led him to establishing his own lighting company in 1978 to focus on contemporary lighting and furniture. As his success and reputation grew, he was asked to create a contemporary ceiling fan for another company. In 1986, he created the world’s first modern fan, the Stratos. This introduction of modern style into fans was a moment that changed the entire ceiling fan industry and encouraged designers to stray away from Victorian and traditional styles to fit into a more contemporary aesthetic.
